From fear to trust
Solving issues with horses
Your horses won't let you touch them, approach them, "catch" them, lead them, groom them, accept medical care, ride them, train with them, get into a truck or a trailer... and more, then you have come to right place. We resolve these issues by getting to the roots with compassion, taking into account the vital connection between horses and humans.
At the core of what we do: we build trust between horses and humans.
And more specifically we achieve this with the ones who have trauma, which is both visible and invisible.
Our ability to rehabilitate traumatized horses
For well over 10 years, we have had horses come to us with a lot of problems. Very often, their issues are over looked and under estimated. When dealt with, the transformation is amazing.
In the horse world, these horses who display signs of agression towards humans, are quickly labelled as "difficult", "stubborn", "dangerous", "impossible to handle"... and they are either sent to a trainer to "fix" their behaviour, or put aside considered useless and "untrainable". A lot of these horses are traumatized due to an unsuitable environment, bad handling, abuse,... Before they become agressive, they show a lot of signs of discomfort, usually unseen by their owners. What starts as a whisper escalates into a shout. Out of fear, most humans will give up on them. One thing we need to realize is: horses always talk to us, are we listening? And for horses to become agressive, they have to be in great pain and very much afraid for their lives.
Our approach with traumatized horses
With CavaliSpirit, we came across a lot of traumatized horses. What was a game changer for us in helping them: getting the knowledge on horses' behaviour through the ROTH training (Reach Out To Horses) in Colorado. This knowledge combined with intuition paved the way to a completely different way of connecting with them.
Since then our goal has been to not only help traumatized equines, but to also support owners and any person get over their fear by discovering who these magnificent animals are, and how to "speak" their language.
Our approach with these horses...
-
Providing the right environment for them to feel safe again
-
Giving them a voice, allowing for a two-way communication
-
Taking into account their physical, mental and emotional well-being
-
Finding their likes and dislikes and adjusting our program according to it
-
Regulating their nervous system on a daily basis through different modalities by mostly through managing their environment
... and with their owners:
-
Building their trust in their capacity to communicate better with their horses and to connect with them
SO IF...
- you struggle with your horse,
- you don't understand them,
- you have problems such as: your horse panics, kicks, strikes, bites, bolts, freezes; if your horse doesn't let you approach them easily,
- And you are looking for a respectful compassionate way to approach them, then you have come to the right place.
